The Single Life and Its Benefits

If you spoke to a handful of people and asked them the question “What's the best part about being single?,” you would probably get very different answers from “I can do whatever I want without worrying about someone else” or “You save more money.” Whatever the case may be for the perks of being single, it's time to recognize there’s a lot you can be opened up to within yourself, others, and the world around you.

Let’s look at the benefits of the single life and how you can begin to see the world in a new way, now with a little more realization of what you can focus on when you are single.

  • Freedom is a big one to take a look at when you are single. This means you don’t have to think twice about decisions you make on a daily basis i.e. what you want for dinner, future plans, or even where you want to settle down and live.

  • Trying new things is more likely when you are single because this time alone gives extra opportunities for meeting others, having fun, and pushing yourself to different limits. This means putting you out of your comfort zone to discover more about yourself and what you like.

  • Space to think/reflect on your own values and ideas of how you want to live your life. YOU are the star of the show, and that means feeding into your own needs, wants, and goals.

  • Independence is a great opportunity to flourish and be more adventurous when exploring on your own. Learning to be more independent can provide a strong foundation for yourself when you begin to navigate the world and all of its nuances.

  • Prioritizing your loved ones can also be a remarkable part of being single. This could be an opportunity to get closer to those you surround yourself with. It could help you foster better relationships in the way that you want.

Being single has many perks, and it's the best time to explore everything you have had an interest in. It allows you to give more attention to important people/areas in your life such as family, friends, career, hobbies, etc. There can be a lot of stereotyping of the “single life” and what that means, but you always have the power to rewrite that idea and make it the best time of your life.

“The most exciting, challenging, and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself.” -Carrie Bradshaw
