5 Ways to Show Appreciation to Your Friends

The people we connect to in our lives bring such great warmth, value, and happiness. In the moments we have together with these people we realize just how much we are grateful for having the friendships and connections that we do with others. Our friendships make our lives that much more meaningful and to be able to express thankfulness and appreciation to them can be given in many ways. Below are 5 different ways that you can celebrate your friends!

  1. Verbal appreciation/compliments: Letting our friends know how much we appreciate them at any moment by telling them through our words can give them reassurance that we value their presence, friendship, and who they are as people. A quick “You’re awesome” or “I'm happy to have you in my life” can go a long way.

  2. Write a letter/card: This is a more intimate way you can express your appreciation to your friends. It can give you a space to go into depth on how they have impacted your life in a positive way, and be specific about events and periods of your life where they showed up in a way that made you feel that much closer to them.

  3. Buy a gift/token: In this instance buying a gift for our friend can show how much you admire them. You can express it by paying attention to things they really enjoy and making it a surprise by taking them to their favorite place to eat or picking up their favorite candy as a token of appreciation.

  4. Offer help/support: Our friends also go through struggles that can be difficult to face alone. We can offer a listening ear, our presence, and space to feel heard. This shows them how much you really value them as a human being and are conscientious of what a friend can really offer.

  5. Do fun things together: Planning a trip, dinner, or just grabbing coffee can be a way to express how much you care about your friend. It does not have to be anything extravagant but it should be something that offers quality time with each other. This will allow you to continue creating memories and a stronger relationship with each other.

It's always the right time to show appreciation to your friends. Take the time today to shoot a text, a phone call or have a fun trip. Life is short and the more we can spread gratitude and further create closeness in our relationships, the more we can build meaningful lives.
