Nathan is a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist who works with adults, couples, children, veterans, first responders, and families experiencing trauma, relationship difficulties, life transitions, family conflict, and challenges with trust and connection. He has a particular interest in working with couples at different stages of their relationships, including those preparing for marriage, couples adjusting to the early years of marriage, and partners working through conflict, disconnection, betrayal, or difficulties rebuilding trust. His work also includes supporting individuals and couples affected by pornography use or compulsive sexual behavior, as well as children and families navigating the effects of trauma, stress, and significant life changes.

Nathan was born and raised in Utah in a military family, with a father who served in the armed forces. Those early experiences gave him an appreciation for military culture, service, family sacrifice, and the unique challenges faced by those in service-oriented professions and the people who love them. Nathan later served in the military himself and eventually moved to California's Central Valley in 2015, which he now considers home. His personal and professional experiences have shaped his passion for working with veterans, first responders, military families, couples, and families affected by trauma.

Nathan approaches therapy from an attachment-based, trauma-informed, and relational perspective. He believes many of the patterns people struggle with make more sense when we understand where they came from and how they may have once helped a person cope, connect, or survive. Rather than focusing only on symptoms or problems, Nathan works collaboratively with clients to identify these patterns, understand the experiences behind them, and develop healthier ways of relating to themselves and others.

In his work with couples, Nathan emphasizes building a strong relational foundation through healthy communication, emotional connection, trust, friendship, shared expectations, and the ability to navigate conflict together. Premarital and early-marriage counseling can provide couples with an opportunity to better understand one another before unhealthy patterns become deeply established and to intentionally build the kind of relationship they want for the future. Nathan integrates approaches including Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), family systems, attachment-based interventions, and other evidence-based practices. When working with children and families, he pays particular attention to how trauma can affect emotional regulation, behavior, attachment, communication, and the family system as a whole.

Nathan earned his Master of Science in Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling from California State University, Fresno, where he completed clinical training at the Fresno Family Counseling Center working with individuals, couples, children, and families. His additional training includes CAST, Gottman Method Couples Therapy, trauma-informed treatment, attachment-based approaches, and work involving compulsive sexual behavior and relationship recovery. Nathan hopes clients leave therapy with a deeper understanding of themselves, stronger and healthier relationships, and greater confidence in their ability to create meaningful change.

"Our past may help explain who we are, but it doesn't have to decide who we become. Healing is not about erasing the difficult parts of our story but understanding them well enough that they no longer get to write the next chapter for us."
